The Civil Security Department conducted a moving ceremony with the participation of His Excellency Maithripala Sirisena, the President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka as the Chief Guest on 23rd December 2016 at the BMICH where the Seva Vanitha Unit of the department donated houses, awarded scholarships and distributed laptops and books to the departmental personnel and their children.
The Scholarships were awarded to 123 students who have excelled at Grade5 Scholarship Examination, 54 students who gained top results at G.C.E O/Level Examination as well as 74 students who have earned University Entrance. These students received scholarships/laptopsto the values of Rs. 15,000.00, Rs. 40,000.00 and Rs. 75,000.00 respectively. Besides, 31,845 received their entire requirements of exercise books. The highlight was the donation of keys to houses numbering 219 built entirely by the Civil Security Department.

Crishanthe de Silva, Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Kapila Jayampathy, Mrs. Anoma Fonseka, Chairman, Ranaviru Seva Authority, Mrs. Yamuna Wijegunaratne, President of Sri Lanka Navy Seva Vanitha Unit, Mr. ChandrarathnePallegama, Director General of the CSD, Mrs. Lakshmi Pallegama, President Seva Vanitha Unit of the CSD , Rear Admiral Shemal Fernando, Additional Director General, Mrs. Carmel Fernando, Vice President, Seva Vanitha Unit and officers, members of the Seva Vanitha Unit of the CSD as well as a cross section of the CSD personnel and winners of scholarships were present.
The Cultural Troupe of the Civil Security Department added glamour to the occasion with scintillating music and dancing items.
