The Life Serving Championships of the CSD for the year 2017 was worked out from 22th to 26th August 2017 in Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium and Mount Lavinia Beach. Men’s and Women’s Championship won the Anuradhapura Battalion. Mr. Chandrarathne Pallegama, Director General of the Civil Security Department graced the finals as the Chief Guest.
On an initiative of Mr. Chandrarathne Pallegama, Director General of the Civil Security Department, a Blood Donation Camp was conducted by the Civil Security Department from 0700 hrs on 24th August 2017 at the premises of the Blood Bank at Narahenpita. 2,500 personnel of the Civil Security Department from around the country representing all the Force Hqs participated in the programme with enthusiasm.
Mr. W. A. Kulasooriya, Additional Secretary (Administration) of the Ministry of Defence, Rear Admiral Shemal Fernando, The Additional Director General, Directors, Commanding Officers of the Civil Security Department were present to ensure smooth conduct of the programme which was appreciated by the Director and Doctors of the Blood Bank.
Under the leadership of the Director General Mr. ChandrarathnePallegama the Civil Security Department personnel from Polonnaruwa and RidiPokuna Force Hqs carried out a Shramadana Campaign from GallallaStadium to Manmpitiya Bridge to clean the entire area as a Dungue Prevention Programme.
The Elle Championships of the CSD for the year 2017 was worked out from 09th to 12th August 2017 in National Ground Polonnaruwa. Polonnaruwa Battalion emerged Women’s Champions whilst Men’s Championship won the Wennawatthe Battalion. Mr. Chandrarathne Pallegama, Director General of the Civil Security Department graced the finals as the Chief Guest.
Three large size of water filters distributed to people suffering from kidney ailment in areas of Mannar, Silawathura, Kandy and Nedungamuwa under the “ Pivithuru Pan Pooja ” programme conducted by “Sraddha ” Buddhist Television & Broadcasting Network on 11th August at Kebethigollewa Sri Salarukkarama temple.

The Swimming Championships 2017 of the Civil Security Department was conducted in Peradeniya University Swimming Pool on 26th, 27th July 2017. The Commanding Officer Puttalama Lt Col. YM Punchibanda, and Palitha Kumara Peradeniya University graced the occasion as Chief Guests.
The Volley Ball Championships of the CSD for the year 2017 was worked out from 21th to 23th July 2017 in Polonnaruwa. Uhana Battalion emerged Women’s Champions whilst Men’s Championship won the Wennawatthe Battalion. Mr. Chandrarathne Pallegama, Director General of the Civil Security Department graced the finals as the Chief Guest.
'Sanhindiyawai Sangrama Shakthiyai', a cultural festival reflected reconciliation and coexistence was held under the patronage of the President Maithripala Sirisena at the Independence Square last night (14th June 2017).
State Minister of Defence Hon. Ruwan Wijewardene and Secretary to the Ministry of Defence Eng. Karunasena Hettiarachchi were also present at the occasion.
The annual event was organized by the Ministry of Defence and was colored with number of cultural acts conducted by Tri forces, Police and Civil Security Department. Acts signifying different cultures, development and several occupations were also presented during the event. The event also included number of performances that represented the foreign support.
Ministers, Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka, army and air force commanders, Inspector General of Police, Director General of CSD Mr. Chandrarathne Pallegama, state officials, foreign diplomats, senior officials of the MoD, senior military officers, distinguished invitees, differently able soldiers and tri forces representatives were also present at the occasion.
Mrs. Lakshmi Pallegama the Chairperson of Seva Vanitha Unit Civil Security Department donated most essential goods like Dry rations, Drinking water bottles, Exercise books and Wearing materials for children and Medical items to the effected people at the recent Floods/ Earth slips. The goods were collected with the support of the employees of CSD and distribution was done through Sirasa, National Television, Hiru and Independence Television Network on 3rd June 2017. The consignment consists of 27 Lorries and was delivered in areas at Kalutara, Rathnapura and Matara.
